External Parent Groups for Dynamic Segment Management

Overview

External Parent Groups enable dynamic, source-controlled segment management while allowing Springbig to surface these segments within the UI.

Authentication Constraints

• Each AUTH-TOKEN is permitted to create one (1) External Group.

Data Model

• External Group (Parent)

  • Represents a top-level container for segmentation.
  • Scoped to a single AUTH-TOKEN.

• Group Segments (Children)

  • An External Group can contain multiple group segments.
  • Segments act as logical subdivisions of customers.

Segment Operations

• Customer Management

  • Add customers to a segment.
  • Remove customers from a segment.

• Segment Management

  • Create new segments within an External Group.
  • Delete existing segments from an External Group.

System Responsibilities

• Source System (External)

  • Owns and manages segment definitions and membership.
  • Performs all create/update/delete operations on segments and customers.

• Springbig Platform

  • Hosts External Groups and their segments.
  • Exposes them in the UI for selection and targeting.
